Dear all:

I have some basic questions about methodology.

1. What is difference between VMM 1.1 and VMM 1.2?
2. I can download VMM 1.2 but not able to find VMM 1.1. Is it still available to download?
3. Are there any general pros/cons between VMM and OVM?

Thanks.

Hi Bobby,

1. What is difference between VMM 1.1 and VMM 1.2?
VMM1.2 provides new features like Implicit hierarchical phasing, TLM2.0, Factory API,
Object hierarchy and many more additional features, like hierarchical options,
RTL configuration support, and test concatenation.
For more details please read the following blogs in VMM Central
  - Just in time for the holidays: VMM 1.2!
  - Verification in the trenches: an end user’s viewpoint on VMM1.2
2. I can download VMM 1.2 but not able to find VMM 1.1. Is it still available to download?
VMM1.2 is a super set of VMM1.1. VMM11 can be enabled using +define+VMM_11 macro
3. Are there any general pros/cons between VMM and OVM?
VMM is a proven technology and is been in the industry for over 4 years now and
hundreds of chips have been successfully taped out.
It is modelled both from methodology and performance point of view thereby reducing the verfication cycle.

Thanks
Sadiya

Thanks for the information Sadiya.

If I start developing verification environment with VMM 1.1, is it possible to use same environment (with added TLM functionality) with VMM 1.2 later. Our simulator supports VMM 1.1 for now and will support VMM 1.2 later.

Thanks.

Hi Bobby,
Yes you can use your VMM1.1 environment and add TLM functionality later when you have support for VMM 1.2.

Thanks
Sadiya
